"Do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased" Heb. 13:16
To those "who do not forget",
As Glenn and I were reflecting on these last few years during our airplane trip to London last week, we were overwhelmed with gratitude at how God has used you all on our behalf and on behalf of these people we are sent to serve.  We believe that by your sacrifices, indeed "God is well pleased".   During these last 4 years we have been privileged to witness how God is weaving together your story with ours.  We wanted to share some of this with you because we know it is hard sometimes to see how God is at work.
God has moved so many to share so selflessly in this mission.  But how God has been doing this is amazing.  Some have given far beyond their own means, even taking from family savings to support this ministry.  Some have taken on a second job to use to support us or contributed their professional services to help us be more effective (our web site is a great example of that!).  Whole families have pitched in to help when needed.  Others have made time in their hectic schedules simply to help us in practical's ways, staged events for us to help raise awareness and support, or even went out on their own and raised funds on our behalf when they could not support us themselves.  The Lord has often confirmed our faith by gifts like these, large and small, and those coming from those we don't even know!   We are well aware that your time and money could have been used in so many ways.  This all must be a response generated by the Lord through you!
But that's certainly not all.  Many have committed to praying for us on a regular basis --- and DO sometimes despite illness or personal turmoil!  Glenn and I have been kept steadfast in the midst of considerable trials ourselves due to those of you who e-mail encouragements or call or even drive hundreds of miles to remind us that it is God who is in control.  There are even people who set their clocks for the wee hours of the morning in order to get up and specifically pray for us and for the people we are serving on the other side of the world.  Whole families, small children included, make it a point to pray for us and this mission on a regular basis.  It reminds me of that song "His eye is on the sparrow..." We feel very much like the sparrow. God is stirred by your prayers to watch over us.
Glenn and I, of course, don't know all the work God is doing in your lives but we wanted you to see from our point of view the evidence that God is at work in you and how you have mattered!  We can tell you how humbled and strengthened in our faith we are because of you all and what you have done.  The stories of your faith and participation with us are a huge part of our testimony about a loving God.  It is often your stories not ours that interest people.  People we talk to understand that we believe God has sent us, but are AMAZED that there are real people behind us contributing to what we are doing and what we believe.
We all look forward to one day hearing: "well done good and faithful servant".  Our thanks is trivial compared to His blessings. But we felt compelled to tell you that we see God at work among you and this is what encourages us, strengthens us, and confirms in us that we also are to continue to follow the Lord in this way. Please pray that God will forge our faith, keep us focused and keep us safe.
We pray that on this side of heaven His blessings will come to you pressed down and running over!
"Having received the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God" may "my God supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Phil.4:19
In awe of how God works,
yours in Christ ,
